Hubs

A Hub is an ISARIC-affiliated institution that is expected to deliver a particular function, operationally and/or geographically. The main role of a hub is to develop and/or strengthen capacity in specific areas through the delivery of research or training activities. Hubs play a significant role in strengthening collaboration and inter-dependency within our network.

Our current Hubs are in South America, Africa, South Asia and Southeast Asia. These hubs are led by Dr John Amuasi (based in Kumasi), Dr Fernando Bozza (Rio de Janeiro), Professor Madiha Hashmi (Karachi), and Dr Janice Caoili (Manila).

"In most collaborations, research networks from Low Income Countries are just collaborators, and all the strategy and goals are set by a high income institution, but the ISARIC model is very different – it empowers the regional centres (Hubs)."
