Anti-Stigma Guidelines

The ISARIC Anti-Stigma Guidelines are a practical resource for outbreak response organisations. Stigma is a common feature of outbreaks that can have devastating impacts. These guidelines can help responders prevent and reduce stigma.

There are two components:

1. Guiding Principles
These are relevant to all responders and supplements by good practice indicators to guide and evaluate implementation.

2. Recommended Interventions
These are expert-endorsed, evidence-based interventions to reduce stigma. Each is supported by an evidence summary, strength of recommendation from the expert panel, and implementation guidance.

The guidelines were developed through a robust process combining systematic review, stakeholder interviews, community surveys, and extensive expert consultation.

Anti-Stigma Guidelines

These guidelines were collaboratively developed by the International Severe Acute Respiratory and Emerging Infection Consortium (ISARIC), University of Oxford’s Pandemic Sciences Institute (PSI), and Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN)
